You Do What You Are
„You Do What You Are“ was recorded on December 14th 2019 in Calren Studios in March, Germany.
The track is part of my bachelor thesis „Analog & Digital Sound Experiments“.
It displays a sound transition from pure analog tape recording to digital recording into a modern DAW.
The track was recorded on tape and into the DAW simultaneously. To receive a decent result we had to pre-mix all channels because we were directly printing on stereo tape. The tape section could only be mastered afterwards. The DAW section could be mixed and edited before mastering.
During the transition there is a slight phase shifting audible. This is because the tape speed of the Revox B77 was wobbling a tiny bit.
What do you think of analog and digital sound? What does it mean to you? Do you like one better?
